We all know that Pinterest and Google are a great resource for visual inspiration, but if you hang out in there long enough your brain will go in to visual overload. The best way to make sure that you are coming up with original concepts is to walk away from the visual stimulation completely and sit down with a good old fashioned sketchbook and a pen or pencil. Here, I even traced out the actual shark teeth so I have a good visual reference for size as well as some sort of template for cutting my basic wire pieces later. Just let your imagination run wild…I know mine does. Keep a small notepad with you at all times so that when inspiration strikes you can make a quick and dirty sketch that you can refine later. Otherwise, you stand the chance of having that thought float off into the aether where it will never be found again. You might end up with a whole bucket of sketches, but you never know when you will look back through them and have a thunderbolt of inspiration slam into you with the force of a freight train.
